Join experienced fly fisherman Jim Rue for a two-hour workshop covering the basics of fly fishing. For the first hour participants will learn about the fly rod and reel, including setting up the line, types of flies, and casting, and will learn about the species of fish found in area streams, the macroinvertebrates they love to eat, plants to watch out for, and strategies that will help us be successful. State regulations and fishing ethics will also be discussed. For the second hour, we will have an opportunity to put our skills and equipment together on Valley Creek.
Participants should bring chest or hip waders if they have them, sunglasses, and a hat. Sunscreen and water bottles are also recommended.
Workshop is for adults and youth 12 and over. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited.
The deadline to register for the Guided Trout Fishing for Families on Valley Creek has past. Please call (651) 436-5189 x11 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to see if there is a waitlist. You may also register for another event.
