Radio Telemetry. Naturalist Jim Rue shows how to use radio telemetry to discover turtle species found at Belwin Conservancy. He’ll also discuss restoration practices and the future of these reptiles.
Aquatic Investigations. Naturalist Natalie Spencer leads a program for elementary-aged children and their families. Come explore life under the pond water. Catch a dragonfly nymph and learn about the journey it goes through before taking flight. We will be spending most of our time on a floating dock using nets to catch these amazing water bugs, or aquatic macroinvertebrates. We may even catch a painted turtle. All children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Sun Viewing. Members of the Minnesota Astronomical Society will open the Joseph J. Casby Observatory from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for sun viewing.
Explore the Grounds. As part of Summer Saturdays, explore Belwin's Education Center and its miles of rolling woodlands, prairie and wetland trails.
