Music in the Trees 2-Day Festival

Free and open to everyone!

Celebrate new life and mourn the death of a four-acre red pine grove adjacent to Belwin’s Education Center. Audiences at this free, two-day outdoor event will experience music installations and live music performed from tree stands in the woods. The performers will bring different musical backgrounds and traditions, and use the natural surroundings to inspire their improvisations. Many types of music will emerge, thanks to the varied backgrounds of the musicians and their instruments: Chinese harp, world flutes and percussion, vocals and guitar, mixing in Brazilian musical styles with more familiar classical, jazz and gospel, all with the wind blowing in the trees, bird song, footfalls and snapping twigs.

The event includes a special performance at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, featuring CHAT (Center for Hmong Arts and Talent). This performance is fully accessible.

Please bring a picnic lunch and chair. Enjoy shaded woods and open prairie in full bloom. Eat inside or on the porch of the Education Center overlooking the hills surrounding the St. Croix River.

Please consider carpooling.

Please RSVP so we know how many cars to expect. Thank you!
