Over the years, our partnership with the St. Paul Public Schools (SPPS) has had many names. It was first known as the 'Belwin Outdoor Education Laboratory', eventually shortened to ‘Belwin’. A few years ago, the partnership was renamed the ‘Valley Branch Environmental Learning Center’. Today, we’re pleased to announce that, this partnership has again adopted a new name: ‘Belwin Outdoor Science’.
In 2011 we’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of Belwin Outdoor Science and there’s no better time to introduce this name. 'Belwin Outdoor Science' reflects the extensive history and enduring connection between the Belwin Conservancy and the SPPS. The name also reinforces the importance of science education for our children, while differentiating it from the science education available in a classroom.
Although the program has always been much much more enduring than the name it carried, we believe ‘Belwin Outdoor Science’ is a name that will endure for the next 40 years or more.
