We are excited to welcome Katie Bloome to Belwin Conservancy as our new executive director. Katie will lead the Belwin team as we protect and restore our landholdings, expand our programming and public outreach, and continue and strengthen our 47-year partnership with Saint Paul Public Schools. She has worked in nonprofit operations, program management, and fundraising since 2006, with a focus on environmental education.

“What initially piqued my interest in Belwin was the mission of inspiring connections to the natural world. That’s where my heart is,” Katie said. “As I found out more about Belwin, I saw incredible potential. We have nearly 1,400 acres of beautiful, restored land and habitats so close to the Twin Cities, and so many strong partnerships in the community already. There’s great potential for more people to discover and experience Belwin. I’m thrilled to be a part of this special place and so excited to help others connect here as well.”

Most recently, Katie spent several years managing and growing the leadership and mid-level giving programs at Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) in St. Paul, Minn. Before MPR, she served as the co-executive director of the Audubon Center of the North Woods in Sandstone, Minn.; program director for YMCA Camp St. Croix in Hudson, Wis.; and managed capital campaigns for Camp St. Croix and Summit Academy OIC (Minneapolis).

Belwin members and the public will have the opportunity to meet Katie at upcoming events including at our annual Night in Nature event on Thursday, September 13.

Katie has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Grinnell College and a master's certificate in environmental education from Hamline University. She grew up in Northfield, Minn., riding horses and playing in the woods. Bloome now resides in South St. Paul and spends her free time exploring the outdoors with her husband, two children, and dog.
